Update...Champions of Good, April 18th, Horizon Stage

  1. Ticketing is being done through the Event Planner function of Clubrunner.  There will be no paper or digital tickets.  People will be registered just the same as with our typical Visitation events. There will be a list of those with tickets at the door.  Rotary Club members can register themselves and guests through Event Planner.  I will send it out weekly to remind you.  The Recreation Department at the Border Paving Athletic Centre will help with this.   Request for tickets can also be forwarded to me to input on Event Planner.  johnoldham@telus.net

  2.  Keynote speaker, Cheryl Bernard, Goodwill Ind., Ambassador and Olympian has a great presentation about Resilience and Achievement.  We can think about who we could invite certainly to celebrate our youth but also to hear Cheryl.  Community members, teams, clubs...businesses  could be interested.  We can all benefit from hearing inspiring words about Resilience and Achievement.

  3.  We are excited to have Constable Shamir Javer as MC along with the FCSS Youth staff.  There might be some entertainment with this crew!!

  4.  We are looking for a photographer is you know someone who could help with this.

  5.  We changed the submission date from March 31st to April 7th.  I have 15 confirmed submissions and I know there will be another 20 to 25 for sure.

Friends of Rotary
As you know I have sent out the second edition of Friends of Rotary.  This second edition was much later than I had thought.  We only have a few people on this email list.  The long term plan is to increase the number of people who have an interest in what is happening with Rotary, service and volunteering in our region.  If we can increase the number of people in this area over time I believe we would achieve increased involvement in our community including Rotary.  If you see this email as helping with this please forward to people and ask the question if they would like to be on this email list.  Of course you can also ask if they are interested in joining.  We have some great speakers this month.

Upcoming interesting speakers.

a.  April 6th, Marlene Dalgleish, Ministry Director, NeighbourLink, Providing...Practical help for those who need a helping hand.  Community Services of our club provides significant support for this organization.

b.  April 13th, Janine Peter, City of SG, FCSS Director speaking about the City's Social Sustainability Plan.

c.  April 20th, Rik Kaminsky, Vice Chair, Chamber of Commerce.
