July Meetings
July meetings will continue to be dedicated to planning and feedback.  The board needs direction from the membership in preparation of the budget.  Last week, we discussed the People of Action Project and whether it should continue.  If you have not responded to the email sent out last week, please take a few minutes to provide your input.  This week’s meeting will be about club PROJECTS.  More specifically, is there a MAJOR PROJECT our club should be looking to start this year.  When we look around Spruce Grove and see large Rotary projects like: the Broxton Park School Playground, the Skatepark, the Playscape, and Rest Stops – we can take pride that we are part of the organization that built these community initiatives.   Perhaps some of you were there with “boots on the ground”, fundraising and building those projects.  It is time for our group to dig into our next large-scale community project.  Bring your ideas and your vision and let’s brainstorm.

THIS WEEK’S MEETING WILL BE ON ZOOM.  I think the weather will be questionable AND I actually think the zoom format is better for the discussion I would like to have this week.

Fundraising Committee Report
The Fundraising Committee, (Ways and Means) is initiating a fundraising campaign to generate funds for the 2020-21 Rotary Year.

We have established that our website, sprucegroverotary.org, is a place people can donate or find out how to donate..

1.  People can click on a Donate Button at the top of the page and make a one time or monthly contribution.  It is made through Canada Helps.  Canada Helps directs the funds to our District Foundation in our name.  Canada Helps charges 3% for this service.  We receive 97% of the donation.  Canada Helps issues a receipt immediately.

2. There is also a Donate Form a little further down on the page that explains our plan and how one can make a donation by contacting a club member or calling our number.

Our goal is to generate $100 000.00.  If we get a contribution from 1% of our 13 000 households in Spruce Grove we will achieve that goal.

The Fundraising Committee will be reaching out to individuals and businesses.  We are asking club members to also reach out to their friends/community to see if a donation can be made.  We can send people to the website,  Remember that any donation is fine and can be easily made on the website. We are expecting to increase the awareness of our club as well as the number of community members making a contribution.

Please check out the website.  www.sprucegroverotary.org

Thanks

Allan Pawlowich and the Fundraising Committee.

Zoom has changed its security settings and that has necessitated that we change the link to the weekly meetings.  This new link will remain the same every week, so keep it handy.  If you ever forget it, you can visit www.sprucegroverotary.org and click About Our Club - Meeting Info and Location.

If you already have the Zoom app on your device, you can join by entering the meeting ID and password.
