Our Project Amigo Student
Dear Neil and Friends,

In June you made a payment to sponsor a student, thank you! and we already have the list of new students to the scholarship program.

Attached is Jennifer's bio that we have assigned to you. Thank you!!

I want to explain a bit further about what will happen next.   All of our Becarios (scholarship recipients) are asked to maintain an 8.5 gpa (out of a 10 point system), complete 10 hours of community service and write on a monthly basis to their Madrina/Sponsor—that’s you :).  Each Becario is assigned to a Youth Case Manager who helps guide them and is there to help them overcome obstacles that may distract them from school.  And yes their assigned Youth Case Manager, Maricruz Ceballos will also ensure that Jennifer Hernandez Andres writes to you.
Please wait for Jennifer to send you an email first, it should not take more than 10 days. You will notice that her email will be written in Spanish and you will see that the email will contain several cc’s that they are asked to include.  We kindly ask you to reply to all when writing back to her.  You can use google translate to “read” her letter.  And on her end at homework club, she will use google translate to read the letter that hopefully you wrote back to her…we assume that it will be in English.
We are grateful that you have chosen to provide a scholarship via Project Amigo so that a young person can have the opportunity to go to school.  We would be pleased if you would write back to her on a regular basis and that you encourage Jennifer to do well in school and maybe even suggest that she learn English.  You are probably one of the few persons that she has ever written to and so the email letters might be short and to the point. We hope that you will work to build a relationship with her and become her long distance mentor!  And of course we will welcome you in Cofradia, maybe you’ll consider participating in service week in the future and have the pleasure to meet Jennifer in person during the service week.
Please be in touch with our President Project Amigo Canada Society Edith Martin at edith.martin@shaw.ca (cc'ed here) with any and all questions.
Again we thank you!
