Other...upcoming.  Darkness into Light   Following is info about an upcoming event supporting the Parkland Region and the Co-ordinated Suicide Prevention Program (Parkland)... or CSPP. (That’s the bunch that we raise money for in the Rotary Run for Life each year.)  Excerpt from a letter from Judy Kesanko.

One of our support group members has affiliated with Pieta House out of Dublin, Ireland, in a walk that is done once a year all over the world, called “Darkness Into Light”. The idea is that people will walk ( actually not run... just walk) for 5 km., starting at 4:45 a.m. when it is, in fact, dark, and will finish the 5 km. as the sun rises, signifying the hope of the dawn in the lives of those contemplating suicide. The walk is a fund raiser for the Ireland DIL, with half the proceeds going back to us here in the Parkland Region as funds for the Co-ordinated Suicide Prevention Program (Parkland)... or CSPP. (That’s the bunch that we raise money for in the Rotary Run for Life each year.) The DIL walk will take place all over the world with an expected 200,000+ participants in many countries. Our support group member who is our DIL Edmonton chair, has got a committee of us together and we are putting on the first DIL Edmonton (we only say Edmonton because we are walking from Victoria Park, across the river and along the Emily Murphy Park walk, back along Groat Road Bridge and then back to Victoria Park.) All this occurs on May 12.... in just a couple of weeks.
